Cruising opportunities are available several times each year.  This is a great way to have a good time, while sailing and getting to know each other in a beautiful, far-off locale, with the abandonment not possible at home.  

You have two options;

Turkey sailing/sightseeing (June 2 - 17, 2011) run by Uri Goldinger is a private trip open to SEAS members. What's Included: 7 days and 7 nights aboard a sailboat in double occupancy accommodations; “Highlights of Turkey” tour covering western Turkey; 7 nights stay at the following areas: 1 night each in Gocek, Pamukkale, Kusadasi and Canakkale, 3 nights in Istanbul; guided tours and sightseeing throughout; round trip airfare (JFK to Istanbul, Istanbul to Dalaman and Istanbul to JFK); food and beverages, etc. Approximate cost is $2975; Trip full with short wait list; currently taking a wait list.

LABOR DAY SAIL - Week long sail September 2 - 9, 2011

Narragansett Bay, Long Island Sound and more

WHEN: All hands depart Friday morning, September 2nd, as car-pooled as possible for an approximate 5 hour drive (from Central New Jersey) to Newport, Rhode Island. We return Friday afternoon, September 9th.

WHERE: Embark from the Newport Harbor Marina for a week’s sail along the Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts coasts and islands. We plan to visit and go ashore at Bristol and Wickford (RI), Fall River (Mass), Fishers Island, Block Island and other ports of call.

FLEET: 42' Beneteau sailboats, number depends on early sign-ups. These boats come equipped with 3 cabins, multiple heads and showers, dinghies, towels and linen, CD players, and more. There will be 6 people per boat, including an experienced club member skipper.

PRICE: Approximately $595/person plus cost of food (may vary slightly from boat to boat).

Price includes one group dinner ashore, but does not include other meals ashore. If you carpool, arrange for cost sharing in advance. Be prepared to settle balance due for provisions, fuel, and possible docking fees on the trip.

Columbus Day Weekend (Sat – Mon, Oct. 10 – 12, 2011) cruise on the Chesapeake. The cruise will start at Rock Hall, MD on Saturday morning, returning Monday by 4:00 PM. One day will be spent sailing to a quiet anchorage (to be determined), and another day to one of three possible ports: St. Michaels, Annapolis or Baltimore Inner Harbor. On Monday is the return trip to Rock Hall. Boats are 36-39ft, containing a total crew of 5 on each boat. Costs are not finalized yet, but will be in the neighborhood of $275 plus a refundable security deposit of roughly $180. Please contact Ray Kimber at raykimber@comcast.net or 732-295-4492.

Mark Seligman will most likely run 2 cruises with Baysail out of Havre de Grace MD, one in May and one in June. As with his previous cruise, he will keep these 2 day weekend trips.

ANNUAL Columbus Day weekend cruising course is being run by Jack Molinelli. The cruising course will start with four classroom sessions before the Columbus Day weekend. The class will culminate in the weekend cruise on the Chesapeake Bay, where you will receive hands-on instruction in sailing, docking, and other aspects of sailboat crewmanship from experienced SEAS instructors. 36-40 ft boats
